The Carl and Alleen McKinney Charitable Trust, which has been managed by Arvest Bank since 1997, awarded more than $150,000 to a total of 13 organizations, it was announced late last month.
The presentation of gifts, overseen by Arvest Trust client advisor Diana Smith, was made in the conference center of the bank’s downtown Bentonville branch. Carl McKinney was the owner-manager of Callison-McKinney Funeral home in Bentonville.

“While the McKinneys had no children of their own, they always had a soft spot for kids,” Smith said. “They also had soft spots for the elderly, poor and any others who were considered disadvantaged. Because of their generosity, each year we are able to distribute these funds to various organizations. Their gift is a remarkable one to so many who call Northwest Arkansas home.”

Since its inception 20 years ago, the McKinney’s trust has distributed more than $3 million to local charities. This year’s applicants sought a total of more than $225,000, and the trust was able to distribute a total of $159,355.

The beneficiaries are:
  • Arkansas Athletes Outreach
  • Boys and Girls Club of Benton County
  • Children’s Advocacy Center of Benton County
  • Circle Of Life Hospice
  • Helen Walton Children’s Enrichment Center

  • Lifeline of Northwest Arkansas
